Environmental Responsibility
There is an enormous amount of confusion and lack of understanding from consumers at all levels, corporations to private citizens regarding Recycled Paper. We have put together some basics in hopes that you will be able to draw some further understanding and enable yourself to make more informed decisions on your printing purchase.
Turning waste paper into paper products, such as carton board, instead of using virgin pulp saves energy and reduces air and water pollution. Waste paper can be recycled about 5 to 10 times before it cannot be re-used anymore.
More than 1.6 million tones of waste paper is collected each year in Australia, most of which is used in making paper. This represents almost half (49.6%) of the paper consumed in Australia, and more than 68% of the paper produced in Australia.
A genuine recycled paper stock should contain at least 20-30% post consumer waste. Recycled paper may not always be the best environmental choice, there are many virgin grades of paper that carry sound environmental certifications and can be equally good.
We Have all Environment Friendly Options Covered
We have options in place to cover all facets of an environmentally responsible viewpoint. We can cater for printing using soy and vegetable based inks & of course a wide variety of recycled paper stocks. Plants that use sound environmental methods of disposing of film and chemical waste as well as recycling of aluminum printing plates. We can certainly advise on different options available should environmental considerations play a part in your print procurement.
