A Greener GJI
25 May, 2010
In an effort to do our part to reduce our carbon footprint, GJI has implemented several green initiatives to run a more environmentally friendly business.
Envirowrap is our environmentally degradable friendly plastic used to wrap mail articles such as magazines and publications. The degradation process involves the reaction of very large polymer molecules of plastics, which contain only carbon and hydrogen, with oxygen in the air. This reaction occurs even without pro-degrading additives but at a very slow rate. That is why conventional plastics, when discarded, persist for a long time in the environment.
At GJI, we know that small, every day efforts can make a large impact over time and that’s why we’ve taken several steps toward creating a greener, more efficient workplace. Not only can we use Envirowrap for mailing publications, we have also recognised some cost-effective ways to be ‘greener’ without changing the quality and consistency of how we operate.
As a sign of our commitment to working green, GJI has added the “Please consider the environment before printing this email” line to all emails. Additionally, computers are turned off when employees leave for the day and an in-office recycling program for plastic, cans, paper and other waste has been introduced.
All of us here at GJI are concerned about global climate change and have embraced this initiative and hope to engage in more environmentally friendly behaviour for the future.
While St. Patrick’s Day celebrates the “wearing of the green”, GJI’s green initiatives go far beyond a one-day annual commitment.
Call us today on 1800 99 66 55 and find out how you can use envirowrap for your next mail campaign.
